Transition to Fall, In Color & Style
It’s funny – the older I get the more I gravitate towards colors I had once written off as being “not me.” Orange, for example, used to be one of those colors; until, of course, I found this suede and faux fur coat from ZARA (which they describe as “camel,” but I promise it’s much more of a lightly burnt orange in person). And if you may recall, I recently wrote a blog post about my online shopping excursion for clothing for Oslo. Well, this past weekend I finally decided to get off my butt and actually check out a few brick and mortar boutiques, to see what I might find in stores before solely relying upon the Internet for my shopping needs.
Good thing I did! While at the Grove, I ended up purchasing this great transitional coat from ZARA, an item I, quite frankly, would likely never go for had I not seen it in person first. It’s incredibly lightweight, collarless, and made predominantly of a suede-like fabric, with the addition of faux fur at the bottom. It’s a coat I can throw on before leaving the house and not have to worry about overheating in a few hours later! What really sold me on this coat, though, was the color. The combination of the camel/orange and creamy nude adds a really nice warmth to an otherwise stark, monochrome look, much like my go-to all-black ensembles.
And since the coat is the clear standout piece in this look, I decided to keep my hair, makeup, and accessories as minimal as possible. With the high neck of the blouse, I avoided adding any neckwear and opted for interlocking hoop earrings from Aldo instead (similar here). It was a warm day so I pulled my hair back and threw on a new pair of cat-eye sunglasses from Perverse (they’re quickly becoming my go-to brand for affordable, fun, seasonal styles). I did have a bit of fun with my makeup for this outfit, though, and created a monochrome look that mimicked the colors of the coat. I kept my routine quick and simple by only using a combination of three beauty products for the whole look – Glossier Cloudpaint in Dusk, Glossier Balm Dotcom, and Cocokind Macabeet Tinted Moisture Stick.
In all honestly, cooler weather could not come sooner! Los Angeles’ transition to Fall has been both slow and somewhat unpredictable, and it’s left me feeling a wee bit conflicted! Adding pieces like this lightweight ZARA coat to my wardrobe, though, definitely help make the seasonal transition a bit smoother, at least in color and style.
